The Indian Navy is tracking the extreme severe cyclone

The cyclone is expected to cross Odisha coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali, IANS reported.

As Cyclone Fani hit Odisha's coast, three Indian navy's warships, Sahyadri, Ranvir and Kadmatt are all set to carry out relief and rescue operations.
The Indian Navy is tracking the extremely severe cyclone.

The ships sailed south of the cyclone to be able to start rescue operations as well as other naval vessels remain on standby at Vishakhapattanam. Naval diver's teams have also moved to Odisha from Vishakhapattanam.

The cyclone is expected to cross the Odisha coast between Gopalpur and Chandbali around Puri during the forenoon on Friday.

On Thursday, the Indian Navy had deployed seven warships. Three of them followed the eye of the cyclone in the southward direction, while the other four headed headed the Tamil Nadu coast.

The Indian Navy is also tracking Cyclone Fani via satellite.

Cyclone Fani made landfall in Odisha's Puri district today morning which triggered heavy rainfall coupled with high velocity winds with speed of 175 km per hour in vast areas.

"The cyclone has entered the Odisha coast at Puri around 8 am and it will take around three hours for the entire landfall process to be completed," Director of Regional Meteorological Center, Bhubaneswar, HR Biswas said.
Special relief commissioner (SRC) BP Sethi said adding that the government is fully prepared to meet any eventuality.
